(31 mar. 1885, Vidin, Bulgaria–1 jun. 1930, París, Francia).

Pintor búlgaro. Viajó extensamente y vivió en Austria y Alemania, y realizó dibujos para revistas satíricas antes de trasladarse a París en 1905. Se mudó a la ciudad de Nueva York durante la primera guerra mundial y se hizo ciudadano estadounidense, pero en 1920 regresó a París y se asoció con otros artistas judíos, como Marc Chagall, Amedeo Modigliani y Chaim Soutine. Sus obras más notables corresponden a estudios irónicos de mujeres pintados con trazos finos y tonos delicados. También pintó retratos y una serie de escenas bíblicas y mitológicas de gran formato. Aunque tuvo éxito económico, era emocionalmente inestable, y se ahorcó a los 45 años de edad.
